Lisa B. Roper is a partner in the Estate & Trust Litigation Group and the Trust Administration & Probate Group, where she advises clients in estate and trust controversies, estate and trust administrations, guardianships, and conservatorships.
Ms. Roper received her law degree in 2011 and her LL.M in Taxation in 2015 from the University of San Diego School of Law. She is admitted to practice in California and is a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Specialization.
In 2023, Ms. Roper was elected to serve as a member of the Executive Committee for Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association. Ms. Roper is also a member of the San Diego County Bar Association (Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law Section) and the Probate Attorneys of San Diego.
Ms. Roper is a frequent author in the field of trusts and estates. In 2018, Ms. Roper authored the article, The Intersection of Death and Divorce: Where Probate and Family Law Collide, published in the California Trusts and Estate Quarterly, Official Publication of the California Lawyers Association, Trusts and Estates Section. In 2021, Ms. Roper co-authored the Quarterly article Whose Money is it Anyway? Making Cents of the California Uniform Principal and Income Act with Kristen E. Caverly and Stephen D. Blea. In 2022, Ms. Roper authored Tips of the Trade: IRA Planning – Gaining Security in a Post-Secure World, published in the Quarterly. In 2024, Ms. Roper co-authored the Quarterly article Is Probate Dying? A Look at AB 2016 and a Survey of Probate Administration Statutes for California Practitioners Preparing for the Future with Kristen E. Caverly.
Ms. Roper also regularly speaks on topics related to trusts and estates, including: Recent Developments in Fiduciary Litigation: Advising Clients in Changing Economic and Legal Times, Hot Topics Regarding Interspousal Property in the Context of Probate, and co-presenting Staying out of Trouble – Ethics for Trusts and Estates Litigators for the California Lawyers Association.
