Erica B. Deutsch is a Partner in the Pasadena branch of the Estate Planning Practice Group of Henderson, Caverly, Pum & Trytten LLP. Ms. Deutsch’s practice focuses on tax, estate, and business succession planning.
Ms. Deutsch provides guidance to single and married individuals and multi-generational families, fiduciaries, businesses, and charitable organizations. More particularly, Ms. Deutsch handles a wide variety of tax and estate planning related matters, including designing and implementing estate plans for clients of varying net worth, gift and sale transactions for tax planning purposes, and entity structures and agreements to protect and maintain family businesses, preparing gift and estate tax returns, negotiating appeals with the IRS on audited returns, preparing private letter ruling requests, guiding clients through the administration of lifetime and testamentary trusts and probate estates. She also consults with clients on real estate and corporate matters.
Ms. Deutsch is a registered tax return preparer with the IRS and a registered tax agent, able to represent clients in property tax matters in front of the California Board of Equalization.
The Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law recently appointed Ms. Deutsch as vice chair of the Generation Skipping Transfers Committee, which is part of the ABA’s Income and Transfer Tax Planning Group.
Ms. Deutsch obtained her Master of Laws (LLM) in Estate Planning in 2012 from the University of Miami School of Law (the Heckerling Institute). She obtained her law degree, cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 2011, and her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Southern California in 2008. While at Pepperdine, Ms. Deutsch was Magister of the law school’s Phi Delta Phi chapter and Lead Articles Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review.
